Influencing Development Finance Institutions

ACCESS has strengthened civil society engagement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and World Bank across Africa. Following ACCESS engagement, AfDB Ghana established a formal quarterly dialogue mechanism with civil society organisations, while ACCESS advocacy also contributed to inclusion of integrated energy planning approaches within the Malawi AfDB Country Strategy Paper.

Through regional trainings and workshops, ACCESS trained more than 100 civil society organisations (CSOs) on the World Bank RISE Toolkit, Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) monitoring, and multilateral development bank (MDB) accountability processes. The coalition also developed simplified advocacy tools explaining AfDB and World Bank systems for grassroots organisations.
