Green Eco Solutions (GES) is a trailblazing enterprise that drives environmental sustainability through innovative solutions. The organization provides eco-friendly fuel alternatives that promote a healthier planet and foster social and economic development.

The founder, Grace Gitiha, was inspired by the remarkable story of the late Prof. Wangari Maathai’s tale of the hummingbird. This inspiring narrative of a small bird doing its part to combat a raging forest fire resonated and inspired her to start GES in 2014. The organization addresses the energy and environmental challenges faced by communities and honours the legacy of those who, like the hummingbird, act to bring about positive change, no matter how small.

At GES, they specialize in repurposing waste biomass into clean cooking energy through briquettes. By harnessing this alternative fuel source, they simultaneously address multiple environmental and social challenges. This approach not only helps in waste management by repurposing biomass but also reduces reliance on traditional fuels like charcoal and firewood, thereby conserving forests and mitigating deforestation.

Additionally, the initiative contributes to livelihood enhancement by creating employment opportunities for women and youth in the production and distribution of briquettes. By empowering local communities, they catalyze economic growth, alleviate poverty and promote sustainable energy practices.

GEC plays a pivotal role in combating indoor air pollution. Their smokeless fuel briquettes provide a cleaner and healthier cooking environment, thus improving the well-being of households and communities.

By offering comprehensive solutions that integrate waste management, livelihood enhancement, and environmental conservation, Green Eco Solutions is driving positive change. So far, they have created 42 jobs, enhanced the lives of 7,800 individuals, recycled over 9,000 tonnes of biomass waste, and saved an estimated 35,000 trees. These achievements underscore their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
